STATE CERTIFICATION CONTINUOUS EDUCATION 
FALL 2021

 

The San Joaquin & Calaveras Counties Electrical JATC invites you to attend the Continuous Education classes for State Certification to be held at the Stockton Electrical Training Center. All classes count toward the 32-hour Continuing Education requirements for Electrical Certification.

FIRESTOP & POWDER ACTUATED TOOLS 2021 is a one evening three-hour class.
WELDING 121 is a three-hour class for eleven evenings, eight of eleven classes are required for         credit and only hours attended will be credited. Limited enrollment.
LIFT EQUIPMENT SAFETY TRAINING This is a 6-hour Saturday class designed to instruct the safety     aspects of lift equipment including forklift, scissor lift, boom-lift, Bucket truck, and extended reach     lifts.
CPR/FIRST AID – 4-hour class for one evening. Limited Enrollment. Required for Foreman Callout
2021 NFPA 70E – Class are 3 hours long, for two evenings. Based on 2018 NFPA 70E.  All classes       must be attended for credit. Limited Enrollment
EXOTHERMIC WELDING is a one evening three-hour class.
FDS – NECA Foreman Development – Classes are 3 hours long, with classes available each month,     in person with masks and social distancing required. Required for Foreman Callout. Call NECA for     Enrollment.
HARASSMENT IN THE WORKPLACE 2021 is a three-hour class covering Harassment and                     Discrimination in the workplace. 
LOTO is a one evening three-hour class.
CONFINED SPACE TRAINING 2021- 3-hour class, covering confined space entry. 
EVITP (Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Training Program) will meet for five evenings, three hours           each, all classes must be attended for credit. Must pass final exam with 80%.
ESAMTAC is an education/training program and credential that prepares electrical workers for the       safe and effective assembly, testing, commissioning, maintenance, repair, retrofitting, and                 decommissioning of energy storage and microgrid (ESM) systems.
OSHA 30 (ONLINE)- This OSHA 30-Hour Construction Training covers a broad spectrum of health         and safety workplace topics that will familiarize you with OSHA Construction standards.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS 11 (ONLINE)- Basic Electrical Review Course covering multiple electrical           systems, electrical calculations, and NEC requirements. Must Pass with 70% to receive credit.
ELECTRIC MOTOR DRIVE (ONLINE)- ADVANCED COURSE - This course is designed to teach electric     motor and electric motor drive operation, installation, and troubleshooting principles. Must Pass         with 70% to receive credit.
DISTRIBUTED GENERATION (ONLINE)- ADVANCED COURSE - This course will introduce and guide       the learner through various forms of alternative power sources that may be used for critical loads       within a specific environment. Including information technology concepts, UPS systems, and fuel      cells. Must Pass with 70% to receive credit.

After the introductory principles are covered, discussion moves to motor drive components, operation fundamentals, installation procedures, and motor drive programming. The course concludes with an in-depth discussion on motor drive start-up procedures, troubleshooting (including required test tools), motor drive selection, and motor drive retrofit procedures. Must pass with a 70% to receive credit.

The Distributed Generation course will introduce and guide the learner through various forms of alternative power sources that may be used for critical loads within a specific environment. The course starts by covering information technology sites and critical loads. After information technology concepts are understood, the learner will be introduced to uninterruptible power supplies, infrastructure components, critical UPS system design considerations, installation, and critical systems service. In addition to UPS systems, the learner will be introduced to fuel cell basics, fuel cell applications, and fuel cell installation. Must Pass with 70% to receive credit.
